Life Events & Challenges
Unfortunately, life can be more unpredictable than we’d like, and things don’t always go according to plan. Or as the crass saying goes, “Shit happens.” But this is the real shit. The shit that matters. Some of us are better at mitigating it than others. But no matter who we are, shit will still happen.
Whether we have fallen short on our goals, lost a loved one, moved to a new city, or just feel unfulfilled and aren’t sure why, these life events and challenges can create a lot of uncertainty, confusion, and a sense of chaos. Gaining clarity on our own can be incredibly difficult, especially when we are in the middle of it, but it isn’t impossible.
Turning to our loved ones can provide comfort and solace, but that doesn’t often provide the insights, tools, and steps necessary to move forward. Having someone who is objective, skilled, and trained can make all the difference by helping to cultivate awareness and provide the tools, resources, and exercises in order to move forward.

When living in a world that tells us to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps, we can feel weary about hiring someone for help. Much like taking medication, there can be an unspoken stigma of not being able to make headway on our own. But the truth is that we aren’t often raised with effective know-how on how to handle many of life’s twists and turns. Mental health exercises and coping skills are not taught in schools, and such knowledge and tools aren’t often passed down to us through our family history.
“Life challenges and events” is a vague category because this is the space in our lives where truly anything can happen. Some situations can find resolution fairly quickly while others may take more time and attention. It’s hard to know what is what when facing life’s more complicated times and the best place to start is simply by talking about it. This “brick” creates our opportunity to begin the process of learning, growing, and overcoming. With the proper help and guidance, there’s nothing we can’t conquer.
